What to expect when getting a stone massage

In a typical session, the therapist will ask you to lie down on a table or floor mat wearing loose clothing and no shoes. while there are several massage styles where the client may remain fully clothed, hot stone therapy and massage should be done with the client covered with a sheet and/or a cotton blanket except for the area that therapist will be working on.
Therapist starts by gliding the stones in a ritualistic, gentle manner at the foot, slowly moving up to the legs, until it reaches the side the torso and up to the arm, right to the fingertips.

First Time Tips

You should not use stone therapy and massage when:
• Individual with infectious skin disease, rash, or open wounds
• Those who just underwent surgery
• Immediately after chemotherapy or radiation, unless recommended by your doctor
• Individuals who are prone to blood clots. If you have heart disease, check with your doctor before having a massage
• Pregnant women unless recommended by their OB Gyne and done by therapists who are certified in pregnancy massage.
